Gothenburg Health Introduces Text Message Appointment Reminders and Confirmations

Gothenburg Health has launched a new text messaging system to provide patients with appointment confirmations, reminders, and essential information.

"We have a new system that allows patients the benefit of appointment confirmations and reminders," said Stacy Bassett, senior director of clinical technology. "Based on the type of appointment, the patient will receive timely reminders and information."

Patients who schedule appointments by phone or in person will now receive text confirmations and reminders. In addition, this new feature allows patients to reply to texts with questions or concerns. Dedicated staff will monitor messages during business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For certain procedures, such as surgeries, patients will now receive vital preoperative information via text or email rather than through traditional mail. This shift aims to improve reliability and ensure patients have the necessary details in a timely manner.

All text communications will come from a local Gothenburg number, (308) 537-XXXX. However, Bassett indicated it could come from one of nine different phone numbers depending on the department.

Gothenburg Health remains committed to enhancing the patient experience by offering convenient, efficient communication options. This new system is part of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to make healthcare access as seamless as possible.
