Lactaction Counseling Services

Dani & Sara PhotoDani Gilligan and Sarah Dea are Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC®). They offer Lactation Counseling services at Gothenburg Health.

Danielle (Dani) has been working at Gothenburg Health since 2015. She has spent most of her time in the clinic and has worked as Dr. Dalrymple’s nurse since Dr. Dalrymple started at Gothenburg Health in 2017. As a result of Gothenburg Health’s large OB practice, Dani took the initiative to pursue more education around lactation services and acquired her Certified Lactation Counselor® certification (CLC®) in 2019. Dani is excited to help mothers with their lactation needs.

Sarah has been working at Gothenburg Health since January, 2021. She has worked as a postpartum nurse at Bryan Health for 8 years before becoming a specialty clinic nurse at Gothenburg Health. She currently works with the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists who visit each month. Sarah has always had a passion for lactation and postpartum care which led her to become a Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC®) in May, 2022. Sarah loves teaching and the one-on-one care that she can provide mothers.

What is a Certified Lactation Counselor®?

The Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC®) certification identifies a professional in lactation counseling who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to provide clinical breastfeeding counseling and management support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation.

  • They will be available to consult with patients during clinic visits to start developing a feeding plan for expecting mothers.
  • They will round on mothers after delivery during their hospital stay to check-in, evaluate feeding, and determine if further support is necessary.
  • They will offer outpatient counseling sessions by appointment.

Please call the Medical Clinic at Gothenburg Health to schedule an appointment with Dani or Sarah at 308-537-4066.
