Jordan Haake promoted to Provider role at Gothenburg Health

Gothenburg Health is excited to welcome Jordan Haake, APRN, as their newest healthcare provider. Haake, who previously worked at Gothenburg Health as a surgery nurse, brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the community, making her an excellent addition to the local provider team. She began seeing patients on August 5.

Haake's journey in nursing began at Bryan College in Lincoln, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a registered nurse. She furthered her education at Clarkson College in Omaha, obtaining her certification as an advanced practice registered nurse earlier this year.

Haake's path to nursing was not straightforward. She initially considered a career in elementary education and English before her mother’s diagnosis with multiple sclerosis inspired her to enter the nursing field. "Seeing my mom navigate her journey through a new diagnosis led me to pursue nursing school," she shared. "Healthcare is very versatile, and if you aren’t happy with one area, there is always another avenue to take. I realized that if I became a nurse, I could help people discover a treatment that worked for them by doing what I enjoy: assessing, diagnosing and treating."

During her training to be an APRN, Haake completed rotations in various specialties including pediatrics in Holdrege, women's health in Kearney, and family practice in Gothenburg and Cozad. She chose family practice because it allows her to care for patients of all ages, from infancy to geriatrics. "I loved that family practice was an extension of what I enjoyed in surgery, helping every age group. I didn’t want to limit myself to one area," she explained.

Haake's connection to Gothenburg runs deep as a graduate of Gothenburg High School. After getting her education in Lincoln and working for two years at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Haake and her husband, Landen, decided to move back to Gothenburg once he graduated as a physical therapist. "Moving back was about taking care of the people who raised us — our teachers, coaches, family and friends. We wanted to give back to the community that gave so much to us," Haake said.

Upon returning, Haake initially found no open day-shift positions in Gothenburg and worked in Cozad for three years. She then transitioned to Gothenburg Health where she has been working as a surgery nurse. Her decision to go back to school to become an APRN was influenced by mentors like Amanda Standage, APRN, who encouraged her to pursue further education and career growth.

As a provider at Gothenburg Health, Haake plans to make helping the patient feel heard the basis of her practice.  She emphasized her commitment to listening to understand her patients rather than listening to respond. Her belief in collaborative care focuses on primary prevention. Haake will be available for appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and alternate Saturdays starting August 5. She is excited to welcome new patients and work alongside the providers she has known and respected.

Haake lives in Gothenburg with husband. Together they have a daughter, Harper, a son, Baylor and are expecting their third child in January. In her spare time, she said she enjoys outdoor activities, golfing, spending time at the lake, and participating in her children's sporting events.
