Specialized Care with a Home Town Feel: Alisa Crown, RN-BSN, CHC, CRHCP
Alisa Crown, RN-BSN, CHC, CRHCP
As the Director of Population Health Programs at Gothenburg Health, Alisa Crown strives to provide the best care to patients in a smaller, rural setting. Because of this, she became a Certified Health Coach and a Certified Rural Health Clinic Practitioner (CRHCP).
Crown has worked at Gothenburg Health for 15 years but was born and raised in Gothenburg. She is continually striving to better herself and the care offered at Gothenburg Health through advanced certifications. Her desire to go above and beyond is evidence in achieving not one, but two additional certifications.
As to the reason why, Crown did not hesitate. “We can provide what larger facilities offer right here in our home town,” she said.
As a rural health clinic, it is important to have CRHCP to maintain compliance with the rules and regulations stipulated by the Federal government. Crown said that pursuing the additional certification allows Gothenburg Health to provide quality care, to have the ability to stay current, and to stay up-to-date on programs that are available.
Examples of programs that have benefited Gothenburg Health as a result of having a CRHCP are the ones that allow the distribution of COVID at-home kits and N95 masks. Because Crown was able to take the extra steps for certification, patients and people in the area are able to benefit from these and many other resources.
The process to become certified as a CRHCP started online with 8 sessions, she said. Then, a test was administered at the Rural Health Clinic Conference. Every 2 years, she said she is required to renew the certification with furthering education to stay current as the rules change.
Additionally, Crown said she is available for general health coaching along with motivational interviewing education.
Its people like Crown who not only provide that home town feel, but also provide the specialize care that provides health care locally at the highest level.
