RN, Acute Care (Night Shift)

Position Summary

A registered Professional Nurse is responsible for identifying patient needs and prioritizing care through assessment, planning, and appropriately delegating care.  When care is not provided directly by the Registered Nurse, the RN assigns/delegates care to the other qualified members of the health care team.  The RN coordinates care between other professional disciplines as needed. Through documentation and verbal communication, essential information is shared with health care team members.  This position is expected to demonstrate competency in clinical skills necessary for implementing ordered nursing care.  The Registered Nurse is expected to exercise informed judgment and use individual competence and qualifications to prioritize patient needs, seek consultation, and perform duties to accomplish expected outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct and document assessment of patient medical status upon admission and throughout course of treatment

  • Maintain quality of care for patients of Gothenburg Health

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans

  • Provide emergency and outpatient care including accompanying a patient to another facility

  • Assess continuing education opportunities appropriate to discipline and responsibilities in order to maintain clinical currency

  • Performs bedside reports on patients at shift change; this includes any handoff of patient care

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Nebraska.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications within 6 months of hire

  • ALSO and TNCC training within 6 months of hire

  • NIH Stoke Scale certification preferred
