MICHELLE CHEW, DNP, JOINS TEAM AT GOTHENBURG HEALTH

Gothenburg Health is pleased to announce the addition of Michelle Chew, DNP, to our team of Hometown Providers. Michelle will start practicing fulltime on February 1, 2018.

Originally from Gothenburg, Michelle graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1985. She went on to get her diploma in nursing from Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings and also cheered at Hastings College while in nursing school. After graduating, Michelle moved to Denver and began working at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Hospital in the ICU. Michelle went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Regis University in 1992.  In 2000, Michelle received her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Concordia University in Wisconsin (CUW). Michelle recently received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at CUW in 2016.

Michelle explained that she chose Gothenburg Health for a couple reasons but her existing roots were a strong draw. Michelle was eager to live closer to her parents who still live in Gothenburg. In addition to her Gothenburg connections, Michelle is also excited to work at Gothenburg Health’s progressive facility, “the expansion of Gothenburg Health is just fantastic and astounding and I am supremely excited about developing a practice here,” expressed Michelle. “I am excited to move forward with Gothenburg Health as this is a time in nursing and medicine where things are changing rapidly.  If we embrace the change and think creatively and innovatively, we have endless opportunities to create and promote wellness in our community!”

Michelle went on to explain what she looking forward to in her practice at Gothenburg Health, “I am most excited about working at Gothenburg Health to help take care of the people of Gothenburg.  Also, I have a background in drug and alcohol rehab and am excited to treat pain with other modalities than narcotics or benzodiazepines. For example, I use osteopathic manipulation in my practice and avoid addictive substances whenever possible.  There are many ways to feel better that don't include dangerous modalities.”

Gothenburg Health is excited to welcome Michelle to their group of Family Practice providers. “Michelle brings a unique background and skillset that will really enhance the services at Gothenburg Health,” expressed Gothenburg Health CEO, Mick Brant. “We are excited to bring a Gothenburg native back to serve the community.”
