Telemedicine at Gothenburg Health

Telemedicine at Gothenburg Health

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 4/13/2020

Gothenburg, NE— Technology enables medical care from the comfort of your home.

Gothenburg Health is excited to offer telemedicine as an alternative option for many clinic visits. Telemedicine enables patients to easily connect with their providers through video calls on various devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. “Telemedicine has been a long-term goal for Gothenburg Health,” said Garrett Vetter, Clinic Operations Director at Gothenburg Health. “In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the implementation timeline was quickly accelerated to help our patient population get the care they need during these uncertain times.”

Those interested in the new virtual care option are instructed to call the clinic first. The trained triage team will help assess if your visit could qualify to be done remotely through telemedicine. “We have a great team that will walk you through some simple questions over the phone,” explained Vetter. “This process helps us determine whether your visit can successfully take place through telemedicine.”

Gothenburg Health’s telemedicine platform is simple and straightforward. “Before the appointment begins, patients will receive a link via text or email to connect with the provider,” said Vetter. “The patient will answer a few intake questions and electronically sign a consent form before the video call starts. This new service can help serve patients both with acute symptoms as well as chronic medical needs in addition to providing an avenue for medication refills and even some routine appointments all while keeping patients safe at home.”

Virtual visit options are being implemented in rural health clinics across the nation to expedite healthcare delivery while minimizing the risk of exposure to the coronavirus for both healthcare workers and patients.

During the video visit, providers can determine if a patient needs further medical attention in person. “We’re excited to offer telemedicine to our service area, while not everyone is a suitable candidate for it, a significant majority of our patient population can benefit from it,” said Vetter.
